1. US President Donald Trump's much-contested travel ban is now in effect. Now some people from six majority Muslim countries will face restrictions on travel to the US.
2. Trump will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G-20 summit in Germany. It will be the first time the two leaders meet face-to-face, and the US president has reportedly asked his aides to come up with "deliverables" he can offer to Putin in their big meeting.
3. Russian hackers reportedly discussed how to steal Hillary Clinton's emails and transfer them to former US national security adviser Michael Flynn. The former national security adviser is under FBI scrutiny and has asked for immunity from the bureau and the congressional intelligence committees in exchange for the freedom to tell his "story."
4. Trump has left a door to the next global economic crisis wide open. Across Washington and the world, there are signs that his administration is about to walk through it any day now.
5. A man has been arrested after driving car into barriers protecting a mosque in the Paris. The 4X4 vehicle "struck pillars and barriers in place to protect the mosque of Creteil," in the southeast of the capital, before speeding off and crashing into a traffic island, police said. No-one was injured.
6. German MPs are expected to vote to legalise same-sex marriage, days after Chancellor Angela Merkel dropped her opposition to the idea. At present, German same-sex couples are limited to civil unions.
7. China has built new military facilities on islands in the South China Sea, according to a US think tank. If so, the move would raise tensions with Washington, which has accused Beijing of militarising the disputed region.
8. Iraq's prime minister has declared the "end of Daesh" after capturing an ISIS stronghold. Haider Al-Abadi made the announcement hours after the al-Nuri Mosque in Mosul came back under government control.
9. Turmoil in Mexico's criminal underworld is intensifying the violence in a valuable border territory. As weakened groups compete with newcomers for lucrative trafficking territories, or plazas, some areas of the country have become hotspots for violence — border cities, and their entryways to the US, in particular.
10. A group of scientists says we have three years to save the planet from irreversible destruction. In 2017, temperatures have already reached their highest levels in history in some areas, from California to Vietnam. And the past three years were the hottest on record.
